Homan Turns The Tables On CBS: Another Media Gotcha Falls Flat

CBS challenged Tom Homan on 57 ICE custody deaths this year and a possible 2026 record. He asked for the Biden-era figure; the interviewer did not have it. Homan said the detained population has roughly doubled to about 74,000, that ICE standards exceed state and federal prisons, and that higher raw totals mainly reflect volume, not worse care—while relative rates stay among the lowest and some detainees receive treatment for previously unknown conditions.
