Deputies: 15-month-old boys drown in neighborhood pond

GREENACRES, Fla. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say a 15-month old boy has died after being pulled from a retention pond in a South Florida neighborhood.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office news release said the boy was found floating in the pond near his home in Greenacres on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the child was taken to a hospital where he died.

Detectives are investigating.

No additional details were released.

He is the third child to drown near Greenacres in the last week. On Oct. 29, 5-year-old Karla Abitalia Morales Ruiz and 17-year-old Petrona Corio Reimundo were pulled from a swimming pool at a mobile home park. Both later died.

Greenacres is near West Palm Beach.
