In this Thursday edition of The Bill Bunkley Show Briefing, host Bill Bunkley delivers a full weather and emergency update on Hurricane Isaias as the Category 1 storm churns through the Gulf, expected to make landfall near the Florida Panhandle (Pensacola area) late Friday or Saturday morning. While Tampa Bay avoids a direct hit, heavy tropical rain bands are already producing localized flooding (especially along the Little Manatee River and on Anna Maria Island), saturated ground, coastal flood advisories with 1–3 feet of surge, dangerous rip currents, and minor coastal inundation through the weekend. Bunkley outlines Governor Ron DeSantis’s state of emergency for 25 Panhandle and North Florida counties, pre-positioned high-water vehicles and power-restoration crews, Florida State University schedule changes, and practical safety advice for residents—especially newcomers—on high-water driving, golf-cart caution, and keeping an AM radio for emergency broadcasts. The sports segment celebrates the Tampa Bay Rays’ historic sweep of the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, clinching their advance to the American League Championship Series with key home runs from Victor Mesa Jr. and Ryan Valdes, strong bullpen work, and a controversial fan-interference call that ultimately favored the Rays. Bunkley also shares a personal health update on side effects from his final days of radiation treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center (dizziness, significant hearing loss, and tinnitus) and asks for prayer. Political coverage examines conflicting polls in the Florida governor’s race between Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly, stresses the importance of turnout among Republicans and conservative independents, and urges listeners not to mail ballots early. The hour closes with an in-depth interview with Phoenix Hayes, co-author (with Frank Turek) of the new book The War on Reality: Recovering Truth in a World That Celebrates Lies (foreword by Erica Kirk). Hayes and Bunkley discuss cultural Marxism, identity ideology, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the need for Christians and conservatives to be equipped with clear philosophical and biblical arguments for objective truth, and practical ways to engage a culture that celebrates lies.
