Judge Allows DHS Limits On Congressional ICE Visits

A federal judge has cleared the way for the Trump administration to enforce a new Department of Homeland Security policy that limits congressional access to immigration detention facilities. The policy requires members of Congress to provide at least seven days’ notice before visiting Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities for oversight purposes. U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb declined to temporarily block the rule, finding that DHS did not violate an earlier court order when it reinstated the notice requirement. In her ruling, Cobb emphasized that she was not deciding whether the policy is ultimately lawful. Instead, she said the Democratic lawmakers challenging the rule used an improper procedural method to bring their case. The decision allows DHS to continue enforcing the notice requirement for now, even as broader legal questions about congressional oversight and executive authority remain unresolved.

Trump Set to Take Center Stage at Davos Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum opened Monday in the Swiss resort town of Davos, drawing a steady flow of global leaders, executives and policymakers as attention quickly turned to U.S. President Donald Trump’s expected arrival later this week. Sources familiar with the plans say Trump is scheduled to travel to Davos on Wednesday, where he will deliver a special address to attendees. Following the speech, the White House has invited global business leaders to a reception, according to people briefed on the matter. One chief executive said the invitation list includes CEOs from around the world, not only those based in the United States. Several senior U.S. officials are expected to accompany the president, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. Business leaders from financial services, cryptocurrency and consulting firms are among those invited to attend events surrounding Trump’s appearance. Trump’s presence has already loomed large over the conference agenda, which has been shaped in part by his recent policy moves. In recent days, the president has renewed calls for the United States to take control of Greenland, an issue that has drawn international attention ahead of the forum. Organizers say more than 3,000 delegates from over 130 countries are attending this year’s gathering, including multiple heads of government from G7 nations.

Hackers Target Iran State TV's Satellite Transmission To Broadcast Exiled Crown Prince

Hackers have disrupted Iranian state TV to air footage supporting the exiled crown prince. The video urged security forces not to target civilians. It comes amid nationwide protests and a crackdown that has killed at least 3,941 people, according to activists. Iran's Foreign Minister had his invitation to the World Economic Forum withdrawn over the killings. Meanwhile, tensions between the U.S. and Iran remain high. A U.S. aircraft carrier has entered the Strait of Malacca, potentially heading to the Middle East. The death toll from the crackdown is the highest since the 1979 revolution, with over 25,700 arrests reported.

DOJ Investigating If MN's Walz & Frey Impeded Immigration Enforcement

The Justice Department is investigating whether Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have impeded federal immigration enforcement through public statements they have made, two people familiar with the matter said Friday. The investigation, which both Walz and Frey said was a bullying tactic meant to threaten political opposition, focused on potential violations of a conspiracy statute, the people said. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss a pending investigation by name. CBS News first reported the investigation. The investigation comes during a weekslong immigration crackdown in Minneapolis and St. Paul that the Department of Homeland Security has called its largest recent immigration enforcement operation, resulting in more than 2,500 arrests. The operation has become more confrontational since the fatal shooting of Renee Good on Jan. 7, with agents frequently being confronted by angry bystanders demanding they leave. State and local officials have repeatedly told protesters to remain peaceful. Walz’s office said it has not received any notice of an investigation. Frey described the investigation as an attempt to intimidate him for “standing up for Minneapolis, our local law enforcement, and our residents against the chaos and danger this Administration has brought to our streets.” The U.S. attorney’s office in Minneapolis did not immediately comment. In a post on the social media platform X following reports of the investigation, Attorney General Pam Bondi said: “A reminder to all those in Minnesota: No one is above the law.” She did not specifically mention the investigation. State calls for peaceful protests With more protests expected in the Twin Cities this weekend, state authorities urged demonstrators to avoid confrontation. “While peaceful expression is protected, any actions that harm people, destroy property or jeopardize public safety will not be tolerated,” said Commissioner Bob Jacobson of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. His comments came after Trump backed off a bit from his threat a day earlier to invoke an 1807 law, the Insurrection Act, to send troops to suppress demonstrations. “I don’t think there’s any reason right now to use it, but if I needed it, I’d use it,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. A U.S. judge in Minnesota ruled on Friday that the federal officers working in the Minneapolis-area enforcement operation can’t detain or tear gas peaceful protesters who aren’t obstructing authorities, including when they’re observing agents.

Minnesota Mob Targets A Church

Today, Josh takes on the anarchists who disrupted Cities Chuch in St. Paul, Minnesota, explaining why the incident clearly crossed into trespassing—and why the Department of Justice is right to investigate it. He then turns to the latest developments surrounding U.S. discussions about acquiring Greenland, laying out why President Trump is far from alone in seeing the strategic value of the move. Josh also shifts to culture, calling out Ms. Rachel and the creeping socialist messaging being pushed toward children. He warns parents that figures like Ms. Rachel are not neutral educators, but activists more interested in indoctrination than children’s well-being. He closes the show with a look at the turmoil in college sports, breaking down why some of the biggest stories dominating headlines are deeply troubling—and why meaningful reform may be nearly impossible now that legalized sports gambling is entrenched. ICE Says Immigrant Killed Himself At Texas Detention Facility

Federal officials say an immigrant from Nicaragua has been found dead at a Texas immigration detention facility. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents say 36-year-old Victor Manuel Diaz appears to have killed himself Wednesday at the Army's Fort Bill base in El Paso. Diaz was detained in Minnesota on January 6th and sent to Texas. He entered the U.S. in March 2024. Diaz was at the same detention facility where ICE says another detainee died as staff members tried to prevent him from killing himself. Local officials say that death appeared to be a homicide as the detainee was being restrained.

Pro-Greenland Protesters: 'Make America Go Away'

Red baseball caps spoofing Donald Trump’s iconic MAGA hats have become a symbol of Danish and Greenlandic defiance against the U.S. president's threat to seize the frozen territory. The caps reading “Make America Go Away” — parodying Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan — have gained popularity along with several variants on social media and at public protests, including a weekend demonstration held in freezing weather in the Danish capital. European governments are rallying behind Denmark, citing the need to defend Arctic regions and warning that threats against Greenland undermine Western security. Protesters, however, are less diplomatic. “I want to show my support to Greenland and also show that I don’t like the president of the United States,” said 76-year-old Copenhagen resident Lars Hermansen, who wore one of the red caps at a protest Saturday. The mock hats were created by Copenhagen vintage clothing store owner Jesper Rabe Tonnesen. Early batches flopped last year — until the Trump administration recently escalated its rhetoric over Greenland. Now there are popping up everywhere. “When a delegation from America went up to Greenland, we started to realize this probably wasn’t a joke — it’s not reality TV, it’s actually reality,” said Tonnesen, 58. “So I said, OK, what can I do?” Can I communicate in a funny way with a good message and unite the Danes to show that Danish people support the people of Greenland?” Demand suddenly surged from a trickle to selling out in the space of one weekend. Tonnesen said he has now ordered “several thousand.” The original version designed by Tonnesen featured a play on words: “Nu det NUUK!” — a twist on the Danish phrase “Nu det nok,” meaning “Now it’s enough,” substituting Nuuk, Greenland’s tiny capital. Protesters at Saturday’s rally waved red-and-white Danish and Greenlandic flags and carried handmade signs mocking U.S. claims over the territory, which is slightly larger than Saudi Arabia. “No Means No,” read one sign. Another declared, “Make America Smart Again.” Wearing one of the spoof hats, protester Kristian Boye, 49, said the gathering in front of Copenhagen City Hall struck a lighthearted tone while delivering a serious message. “I’m here to support the Greenlanders, who are going through a very hard time right now,” he said. “They are being threatened with having their country invaded. I think it’s totally unacceptable.”

Snow Causes Massive 100-Car Pileup In Michigan

More than 100 vehicles smashed into each other or slid off the interstate in Michigan on Monday as snow fueled by the Great Lakes blanketed the state. The massive pileup prompted the Michigan State Police to close both directions of Interstate 196 just southwest of Grand Rapids. The State Police said there were numerous injuries but no deaths had been reported. The crash is just the latest impact of the major winter storm moving across the country. The National Weather Service issued warnings about either extremely cold temperatures or the potential for winter storms across several states. A day earlier, snow fell as far south as the Florida Panhandle and made it harder for football players to hang onto the ball during playoff games in Massachusetts and Chicago.

State Of Emergency Declared After Gangsters Attack Guatemalan Police

Guatemala's president declared a state of siege on Sunday after security forces freed dozens of prison guards held hostage by inmates, ending a weekend of gang violence that left at least seven police officers dead and another 10 injured. Rioting inmates had taken 46 hostages at three men's prisons early on Saturday. The government blamed the riots on the Barrio 18 gang, which it said was pushing for greater privileges for its members in prison. Gang-led violence targeted police in several areas around Guatemala City after security forces regained control of the prison where Barrio 18's leader, Aldo Duppie, was held. The gang leader, known as El Lobo, was taken back into custody. President Bernardo Arevalo declared a 30-day state of siege that he said would allow the full force of the state, including the police and the army, to combat gang violence. Under Guatemalan law, a state of siege can temporarily limit or suspend civil liberties and expand security forces' powers in response to threats to public order. Images provided by the police showed officers on Sunday morning escorting Barrio 18's leader, who appeared to have a bloody shoulder, out of a prison that had been taken over by inmates. Shortly afterward, simultaneous attacks against police officers broke out in and around the capital, in what Arevalo said was gang retaliation for taking back the prisons. One gang member was also killed in the violence. "These murders were carried out with the intention of terrorizing the security forces and the population so that we give up in the fight against gangs and their regime of terror. But they will fail," Arevalo said. Arevalo, who also declared three days of national mourning, said the state of siege should not alter normal life for Guatemalans. Earlier on Sunday, National Civil Police director David Boteo had advised Guatemalans to stay at home, and the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala issued a security warning for U.S. citizens. Guatemala's education minister canceled school classes across the country on Monday, which Arevalo said was a preventive measure. Guatemala's Congress declared Barrio 18 a terrorist group in October 2025, shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump's administration classified the gang as a foreign terrorist organization. El Lobo is currently serving prison sentences totaling some 2,000 years. He is married to the niece of Sandra Torres, Guatemala's former first lady who has been the runner-up in three presidential elections, most recently finishing second to Arevalo in 2023.

Firefighters In Chile Battling Deadly Forest Fires

Firefighters in Chile are battling forest fires that started on Sunday, killing at least 19 people and leaving around 1,500 homeless. Five large wildfires remain active Monday in the center and south of the country. Chilean President Gabriel Boric declared a state of catastrophe in the central Biobio and Ñuble regions on Sunday. This allows greater coordination with the military to control the fires. Wildfires are common in Chile during the summer due to high temperatures and dry weather. This outbreak is one of the deadliest in recent years.
