Classic Performance of 'How Great Thou Art' From The Statler Brothers

This famous hymn was originally published in 1949 and it quickly became a worldwide sensation. Over the decades, countless artists have covered the tune that tells of the amazing love from our God in Heaven.

“O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed”

The Statler Brothers formed in 1955 and continued to play music until their retirement in 2002. Throughout the years, these talented men have gives us hits such as ‘Flowers On The Wall’ and ‘Do You Know You Are My Sunshine?’

 

This throwback performance features original member Lew DeWitt before he became ill and could not continue touring with the group. Before the hymn, The Statler Brothers stated that they make it a point to play at least one gospel song during their concerts. It’s a tradition that has truly helped make this group a men country music icons. Just listen as they belt out the powerful words of ‘How Great Thou Art.’
