Dr. Michael Lange, Dr. Christine Gillikin, and Roger Schulman host an informative—and very upbeat—episode of “Ask the Dr.” focused on dry-eye relief, healthy aging, cognitive health, nutrition, and longevity.
Roger Schulman opens the program with 8–10 practical anti-aging strategies he has learned over the years from appearing on “Ask the Dr.” These lifestyle tips may help support cognitive performance, overall wellness, and a longer, healthier life.
New Lange Eye Institute optometric physician Dr. Christine Gillikin then shares four foundational steps she recommends for dry-eye patients:
1. Heat the meibomian glands
2. Clean the eyelids and lashes
3. Lubricate the cornea and ocular surface with high-quality artificial tears, such as Optase or Oasis Tears Plus
4. Improve nutrition to support healthier tears and ocular-surface function
Dr. Lange and Dr. Gillikin discuss the many causes of dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), and the importance of developing an individualized treatment plan. They explain TearCare®, an in-office procedure that applies controlled heat to blocked meibomian glands and is covered by many insurance plans when medically indicated.
The doctors also explore the benefits of Lumenis OptiLight IPL for inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction, along with the importance of a high-quality re-esterified triglyceride—or rTG—omega-3 supplement for eye health and overall wellness. Dr. Lange highlights Fortifeye Super Omega and discusses the science behind Fortifeye Black Currant Oil with GLA for supporting dry-eye patients.
Both doctors discussed a bend new technology they now have in the Lange Eye Institute in The Villahes called the Guadi Profilometer. This technology does a topographical map of the cornea and the sclera and allows the doctors to fit a super custom scleral lens to the eye that will fit well and have amazing vision. They also chime in about the amazing benefits of having an optomap done at your eye visit so the dr can see everything in the back of the eye.
Additional topics include:
• Diet and nutrition for dry-eye relief
• Weight management for ocular and whole-body health
• Fortifeye Fit Meal and Fit Bites for jump-starting healthy weight-loss goals
• The three-container bundle special on Fortifeye Organic Blue-Green Superfood
• Answers to live callers’ questions about dry eye, eye health, nutrition, and longevity
Dr. Gillikin received enthusiastic feedback from callers during her first appearance on the program. Her knowledge, personality, and natural chemistry with Dr. Lange and Roger made this a fun and highly educational show.
The team also announces the Lange Eye Institute “Wild Wild West” Fall Festival on November 14 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Save the date and join the fun!
