Trump has dispatched his special envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow, where he is set to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday to discuss a U.S.-proposed peace plan aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. The diplomatic push follows a round of talks between U.S. and Ukrainian officials in Florida over the weekend. According to the White House, the peace plan has been “fine-tuned,” but major sticking points remain — especially over control of territory and future security guarantees.
